In 2017, Morgan James put together an all-female cast and performed a live concert remaking Andrew Lloyd Weber's famous musical "Jesus Christ Superstar", with Morgan starring as Jesus Christ.

The concert led to the recording of an album, with Morgan also taking on the role as a producer. In keeping with the all-female cast, Morgan assembled an all-female group of musicians and production to make the album. The release was delayed because of the bankruptcy of PledgeMusic, through which the production funds were raised. In 2020, selected tracks were released on two EPs titled "She Is Risen", volumes 1 and 2. The complete album titled "Jesus Christ Superstar" was eventually released in 2022 as digital music and also on CDs. The printing company mishandled the artwork on the CD cover in the first batch, so this batch did not go on the market, making the first CDs rare collector items.

In July 2022, there was a concert at the Little Island Park, New York, related to the release of the full album. Check out the following video from that concert:
